Previously Rosebud's post office until the late 90's, the iconic venue was purchased by Sam Austen in 2008 and the Rose GPO was born, bringing to the Peninsula a casual, vibrant bar and eatery loved by locals and day-trippers alike.

Partick has set the GPO Hotel alight with his yearn to set the trends, not follow them. A seasoned professional boasting experience from Circa, The Kingston, Head Chef at The Pavillion; Patrick is not shy to introduce new flavours and styles whilst not letting go of traditional pub favourites.

Capturing the essence of casual dining on the Peninsula while paying homage to Southern style blues and modern Tex Mex cuisine; the GPO Hotel is bursting with diversity, flavours and an energy only live music and happy patrons can bring. Ideally located in Mornington Peninsula’s Rosebud, The GPO Hotel is a central meeting point for locals and day visitors alike. Thanks to a recent refurb, the GPO Hotel is a little shinier, brighter and has a distinct fresh vibe in the air. We are welcoming a younger crowd to our midst, with local diners still enjoying the unpretentious hospitality we’re famous for.

At the heart of the GPO Hotel, we balance modern gastro dining, classic pub meals and a robust hint of Tex Mex cuisine. Hearty classics will forever be our tradition, but we believe in diversity, breaking the mould and setting trends, not following them.

AMERICAN SMOKED BBQ

Our Yoder Smokers, bought from Texas bring an exciting edge to our menu, widely loved by locals and attracting more and more day trippers to come and experience the American Style BBQ for themselves. Our infamous specialty is a 600gm Cape Grim Rib Eye, smoked rare over Australian hardwoods and then chargrilled to mouth watering perfection.

COCKTAILS, SHARE PLATES AND SMILES ALL ROUND

Our communal table underneath the iconic London Plane tree make for good conversations and the perfect place the meet. Our cocktail and wine list is extensive and our adventurous beer list caters for all. Share a plate, have a drink and soak in the atmosphere.

1ST AND 3RD SUNDAY OF EVERY MONTH.

Midday to 6pm our Texas BBQ inspired menu and the Melbourne's best blue's artists make's the GPO Hotel the best choice for your Sunday Session. Artists include Andy Phillips and the Cadillac Walk and Diddy Reyes and the Blues Maniacs. Entertainment from 3 - 6pm.

THURSDAY NIGHT IS STEAK NIGHT @ THE GPO HOTEL

Since 2008 We've hung our hat on Cape Grim grass fed Tasmanian Beef. On Thursday nights, you can get two porterhouse steaks with sides and sauces and a bottle of Cape Vine Wine for just $60. Conditions Apply.
